In this blog, we’re looking at the notable plans to improve Peterborough, from the opening of the new ARU university campus to the building of a new pedestrian bridge over the River Nene. There’s certainly lots of exciting developments in the pipeline and we’re showcasing the top three below.
New Ferry Meadows Climbing Centre
An Olympic-grade climbing wall for Peterborough’s Ferry Meadows is in line for £1.5 million in government support. Standing at 34.25 metres tall, this will be one of the tallest buildings in the area. It will be a great opportunity for locals to try a new sport, and is something that the whole family should be able to have a go at. It’s part of a new Lakeside Activity Centre. It’s an £8million project which should benefit the local community and attract tourists.
Pedestrian Bridge Over River Nene
In a bid to make Peterborough city centre more accessible and environmentally-friendly, there will be a new pedestrian bridge built over the River Nene, joining the city’s new university by the Embankment and the Fletton Quays development on the South Bank. This will be open to pedestrians and cyclists. It’s expected to be built in 2023-24.
ARU University Campus
ARU Peterborough is a new campus set to open its doors in September this year. Part of the Anglia Ruskin University, available degrees include Accounting and Finance, Business and Management and Computer Science for Mobile Game Development.
ARU Peterborough is a new £30 million university for Peterborough and should fill the expertise gap in growing job sectors.
